WHY THIS SPACE MATTERS

Why a well-planned laundry room changes more than the room

In a Singapore home, the laundry room rarely works in isolation. It influences neighbouring rooms, circulation and the routines that happen around it.

When washing, drying, sorting, folding and cleaning supplies creating repeated daily movement, small planning decisions become noticeable every day. We resolve those practical relationships first so the design feels effortless rather than simply finished.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Make laundry feel less like a logistical exercise.

A dedicated laundry room can turn a scattered routine into a simple sequence. Appliance placement, sorting, hanging, folding and storage are planned so each task leads naturally to the next.
OUR APPROACH

How we design a laundry room that actually works

We begin with the way the laundry room will be used, then coordinate layout, storage, lighting, materials and technical requirements around that reality.
01
Create a clear sequence
Dirty laundry, washing, drying and folding each need an obvious place.
02
Use the wall height
Tall storage is useful for detergents, cleaning tools and less-frequent household supplies.
03
Protect the work surface
A practical folding counter can make a major difference when it is positioned at the right height.
04
Manage moisture
Ventilation, drains and material choices need to suit repeated exposure to humidity and water.
BEFORE WE DESIGN

What we consider before designing your laundry room

  • Washer and dryer arrangement
  • Sorting bins
  • Folding surface
  • Drying method
  • Cleaning supply storage
  • Drainage and ventilation
  • Ergonomic heights

These priorities are reviewed against the actual property, existing services and renovation scope before the design direction is finalised.

THE EXPERIENCE

The work gets easier when the room works with you.

A good laundry room reduces the number of unnecessary movements in a repetitive task. Sorting, washing, drying, folding and storage should happen in a logical sequence.

We consider appliance clearances, countertop space, ventilation, hanging, cleaning supplies and linen storage together. Even a compact laundry room can feel significantly easier to use when these functions are ordered properly.

The value is not visual drama. It is the everyday relief of having a hardworking space that simply makes sense. Share your floor plan if your laundry routine currently takes more space or effort than it should.

Stacked or side-by-side?
Stacking saves width. Side-by-side units create an easy counter above. Accessibility and room geometry should decide.
Open shelves or closed storage?
Open shelves make supplies fast to reach, while closed cabinets keep the room visually calmer and safer for chemicals.
Indoor drying or mechanical drying?
The right solution depends on household volume, ventilation, energy preferences and available ceiling space.
DESIGNER'S NOTE

Plan where the basket goes.

Do not use every available wall for storage if it removes the working surface you need for sorting and folding.

A laundry room often performs better with a deliberate balance of cabinetry, open worktop and hanging space rather than maximum cabinetry alone.

What should a laundry room include?
