Soft Contemporary Minimalism - 37 Punggol Field
Designed for a HDB resale flat in Punggol, Singapore, this project shows how Soft Contemporary Minimalism can be adapted to Singapore living with built-in storage and layered lighting. The result is considered, functional, and easy to understand at a glance.
Contemporary Interior Design in Punggol, Singapore
This home at 37 Punggol Field takes a softer approach to contemporary minimalism. Instead of relying only on straight lines, the design introduces gentle arches, rounded corners, sculptural lighting, and curved furniture to make the interior feel more relaxed. A warm off-white palette keeps the different spaces connected, while black and brushed-metal accents add definition. Built-in storage is worked quietly into the living room, bedrooms, kitchen, and study, keeping the home organised without making it feel heavy.
The Design Brief
The goal was to create a clean and calming home with plenty of practical storage, a comfortable work-from-home setup, and enough personality to avoid feeling too plain. Each area needed to work efficiently within the existing footprint while still feeling open, bright, and connected.
The Design Approach
We used a consistent neutral palette to create an easy visual flow throughout the home. Full-height cabinets and low-profile built-ins provide storage without interrupting the clean lines. Curved details around the television feature wall soften the living space, while layered lighting brings warmth in the evening. In the kitchen, a peninsula adds useful preparation space and creates a natural connection with the dining area. The study was designed as a focused workspace with overhead storage, open display space, and a bright position beside the window.
